AAA (Animals Assisted Activities) |
|
|
|
|
- these are classes, which an animal takes part in – in case of dog’s kynotherapy – classes are pointed to make a positive contact between a child and a dog. During joyfull, spontaneous play (guided by kynotherapist) children get used to a contact with a dog, they stroke a dog, tell commands. AAA classes are supposed to provide participants with a positive emotional stimulus and satisfaction with being with a dog; the classes overcome fears in contacts with the others, they stimulate a development of senses and perception. Most often it is a form of team work. During AAA classes there is no need to make a specialist documentation (information card, card of occupance’s course). |

AAT (Animal Assisted Therapy) |
|
|
|
|
-a therapy with an animal – in case of dog’s kynotherapy – it is a set of exercises pointed on concrete, planed aim of rehabilitation. To these exercises a methodology is made in consultation with a rehabiliater or a doctor. This therapy is characterized by individual attitude to each patient, his abilities and needs. AAT therapy is documentationable in all. Each patient has his own information card and a card of occupance’s course, where kinds of making exercises and their effects are written down. It lets for periodical checking the effectiveness and selection of methods. AAT is a system, which can be developed, which means as the progresses in rehabilitation, the difficulties are increased. The best form of AAT are individual classes.
The classes should be taken by kynotherapist made contently-related with a right trained dog, which can be assisted by a volunteer or its Guide. A dog should come up to criterion of therapeutic dogs there is also a specialization in a range of their biggest usefulness to a therapy. A dog, which has a great contact with autism charges, does not have to work with ADHD people.
A specific form of AAT is AAE (Animal Assisted Education) which is – in case of kynotherapy – a class, with a dog, supposes to improve an intellectual and knowing sphere of a child. AAE helps children with lower perception or dislike (because of many different causes to absorb some knowledge and stay at school. A dog is used as “a teaching aid”, it is a motivator to study, it increases possibilities to absorb knowledge and makes more friendly conditions to study. A child remembers things with more pleasure, because a main character of these things is his/her friend – a dog.

HINTS |

|
|
A full list of disfunctions, which can be rehabilitated by methods of kynotherapy, can not be described, because the list is getting longer and longer every day. In general, kynotherapy includes rehabilitation of:
- psychological disturbance
- psyhical disturbance
- intelectual disturbance
- social disturbance
In case of affirming a kynophobia, the first stage of classes should take a group of actions overcoming a fear to a dog. After a positive ending of this stage we can begin to rehabilitation of the other disorders.

1. a refferal for rehabilitation includes:
- an information about any lack to classes of kynotherapy
- a full diagnosis of disease
- recommendations to rehabilitation

4. a card of occupance’s course
5. a periodical check-up – at least 1 a year – with detailed description a rehabilitated person’s condition.
Kynotherapist’s documentation:
1. a medical certificate about any lack to be a kynotherapist
2. a document confirming qualifications
3. an obligatory third-party insurance
4. an accident insurance – recommended
Kynotherapeutic dog’s documentation
1. a present certificate of inoculations
2. a present certificate of getting rid of worms (advisable once a 3 months)
3. a veterinary certificate of general good dog’s condition
4. a valid certificate of passed exam of kynotherapeutic dog

WORK’S CONDITIONS OF KYNOTHERAPEUTIC GROUP |
|
|
|
|
1. Optima time of kynotherapeutic group’s work – letting for effective work – lasts about 7 hours, in this about 5 hours direct work with a patient, with two, at least 30 min, breaks. A single classes should last no longer than 45 min. A break between classes, adjusted to group’s needs, should not last no less than 10 min. A dog’s personal predispositions have to be remembered and in case of showing a tiredness by a dog the classes should be discontinue.
2. A kynotherapist should be ensured to have a social back.
3. A kyntherapist has a right to refuse keeping classes in case of affirming any of the contraindications to classes.
4. A kynotherapist can refuse to keep classes in cases:
- any doubts about indications included in refferal till they will be cleared up
- any lack in rehabilitated person’s documentation
5. A dog must have a space to run and deplete. A kynotherapist or a volunteer taking care a dog during a walk, must clean after a dog.
6. A dog should work in a comfortable collar or braces. A barb or a tightened collar are forbidden.

TIME OF LASTING CLASSES |
|
|
|
|
Middle time of lasting single AAT classes should be 30-45 min and adjusted to possibilities of therapeutic dog’s work. In case of showing a tiredness by a dog, the classes should be interrupted. They can be continued when a dog is not stressed, f.ex. during a walk.

EXERCISES |
|
|
|
|
The exercises should be matched up with therapeutic needs and efficiencies of rehabilitated person with taking into consideration a specificity of disabilities.
Examples of specific demands:
- at children with Rett’s syndrome a pheripheral circulation (apart from trunk) is weak. That is why feet and legs often have much lower temperature than the rest of a body. It is important to good protect against chilling a foot and a leg of a child with this illness.
- at children with Angelman’s syndrome a kynotherapy must show big vigilance that an ill does not choke, because people with this kind of syndrome all the time put some objects in their mouths.
- at children with Breakable Chromosome’s X syndrome a kynotherapy must take into consideration a specific shyness, fear, depression and difficulties with social contacts of these children.

They should be selected to individual needs of rehabilitated person. In case of using toys for children, instruments and accessories should have a certificate of CE safety.
